FREDERICK “FRITZ” ANDERSON. Mr. Anderson is the retired COO/CFO of Phil Anschutz’s Clarity Media Group. Mr. Anderson’s key CMG responsibilities included leading all operational management, production, financial, information technology, and personnel processes. He was also responsible for all mergers and acquisitions, legal services and was a key leader of the company’s strategic direction. During his tenure at CMG, he cofounded and served as President of one of the world’s largest “crowd sourcing” Internet media companies, Examiner.com. Examiner.com grew to over 250,000 reporters/journalists. Prior to joining Clarity Media Group, Mr. Anderson was the EVP/CFO of the California Newspaper Group, a joint venture of Media News, Gannett, and Stephens Group. He was responsible for the consolidation of operational functions, strategic direction, and profitability of the venture. In addition, he was an active member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Anderson joined The Denver Post in 1988 as the VP/Controller. He was then promoted to CFO in 1990 and added Chief Information Officer (CIO) responsibilities in 1992. He was a key member of the leadership team responsible for turning around The Post to a profitable entity in a highly competitive environment. Mr. Anderson began his professional career at one of KPMG’s predecessor firms, where he served a variety of industries including banking and manufacturing. He earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate during that period. After leaving KPMG, he served in executive management for construction, real estate, and retail organizations. He then joined Knight-Ridder, Inc., which at that time was one of the largest print media companies in the world. He served in a variety of financial leadership positions during his six year tenure. Mr. Anderson has served on the boards of several charitable and profitable organizations including serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Denver Big Brothers and Sisters from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Anderson received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
